There’s no shortage of fun and exciting events taking place around the Toowoomba region this weekend, from celebrations of Indian Independence Day to the University of Southern Queensland’s Open Day.
Here are 10 things to do this weekend.
1. Brewoomba
Beer lovers rejoice as Brewoomba returns to Fitzy’s for a celebration of all things beer.
The whole pub will be taken over for Brewoomba 2024, with free entry across the entire venue.
Brisbane legends Range Brewing will have a tap take over of the Tapestry bar while the beer garden will feature products across the Balter range, not to mention a litany of other festival headliners including Stone & Wood, Your Mates and Black Flag Brewing.
Brewoomba kicks off on Saturday from noon to 9pm.
2. Indian Independence Day
A celebration showcasing the diversity of Indian culture, history and achievements will take place to honour 77 years of hard-won independence.
The day will be held at Centenary Heights State High School (Assembly Hall), 60 Ramsay St, Toowoomba from 6pm. Entry is free by online registration at www.trybooking.com/CTLDT.
3. UniSQ Open Day
The University of Southern Queensland will welcome prospective students and their families to its 2024 Toowoomba Open Day this Sunday, August 18.
The open day is designed for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn more about the opportunities available at UniSQ.

4. Glennie Jazz Fest
The Glennie School is holding their biannual Glennie Jazz Fest on Sunday, August 18 from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. The event is sure to be an afternoon of great music and atmosphere, featuring The Glennie School ensembles, fresh off some exceptional results at the Toowoomba Eisteddfod, as well as guest performers. 5. DownsSteam Super Saturday
Join DownsSteam Tourist Railway and Museum for a super day on Saturday featuring precinct tours, sausage sizzle, and live music.

6. Space Family Fun Day
The iLauNCH Trailblazer is bringing a space-themed Family Fun Day to Toowoomba on Sunday.
This exciting event will be a day filled with interactive activities such as water rockets, lightning talks for children, teens and adults and a sunspot activity with solar telescopes.
The day promises to ignite curiosity and wonder about the vast universe beyond our planet.

7. Wedding Expo
Rural Queensland’s largest free wedding expo, the Your Local Wedding Guide Wedding Expo, returns to Toowoomba on Sunday.
Featuring designer wedding fashion, photographers, reception venues, celebrants and everything else needed to make your special day perfect, the expo is a must for all couples looking to tie the knot.

8. Leyburn Sprints
Get your motor running and feel the need for speed as the historic Leyburn Sprints revs up for their 75th anniversary.
Spectator gates open on Macintyre St at 6.30am Saturday before the sprints competition starts at 8am. The weekend-long event will officially kick off with an opening ceremony on Saturday at noon including a 1949 grand prix car display. The action continues across all of Sunday. 9. Round the World
Embark on a round the world trip, six stops on six continents – all with a common theme … but what will it be? There will be clues to unlock the next destination and super interesting titbits to discover at each stop.
The session will be held in a meeting room on L3 at the Toowoomba City Library (corner Victoria and Herries streets) on Saturday from 2pm to 3pm. Parents/guardians are more than welcome to join for the session, otherwise there will be plenty of break out space outside of the meeting rooms.
10. Toowoomba Gospel Choir
An uplifting evening of praise featuring beloved Gospel classics and modern favourites from artists such as Ron Kenoly, Whitney Houston, Charity Gayle and CeCe Winans with special guest flautist, Nicola Hayden, and the Gospel Choir band.
