There’s no shortage of fun and exciting events set to take place in the Toowoomba region this weekend.
From speedcubing competition to pipe organ concert, here are 10 things happening across the Darling Downs this weekend.
1. Let Music Resound
A special concert featuring celebrity organist Steven Nisbet from Brisbane will fill St Luke’s Anglican Church on Saturday in celebration of the first major milestone in their pipe organ restoration project.
Let Music Resound marks the replacement of the electronics of their 1907 Norman and Beard pipe organ as part of the instrument’s major service that takes place every 30 years.
The event starts at 2pm at 152 Herries St. Tickets are $20, school students are free and the concert will be followed by an afternoon tea. For more details visit www.stlukestoowoomba.org.au.
2. InStudio Art Trail
Now in its 13th year, this weekend is your last chance to catch the InStudio Art Trail, a perfect opportunity to take a country drive and visit 42 artists in their home studios or in group exhibition spaces.
The trail is free to visit and the artists are located from Highfields to Crows Nest, and out to Goombungee. Studios are open from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

3. Speedcubing event
Some of the fastest hands will be out west as Toowoomba hosts a Speedcubing Australia event at Wilsonton State High School at the weekend.
With a variety of events and competitions the action promises to be fierce and fast and will include some of the biggest names in the game including Charlie Eggins, Australia’s fastest blindfolded cuber who is currently ranked number two in the world.
Spectators are welcome to watch free of charge, with events running from 10am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. For more details visit the Speedcubing Australia Facebook page.
4. Yuleba steam trip
The Australian Railway Historical Society and Queensland Rail, invite rail enthusiasts aboard a three-day steam train experience from Toowoomba to Yuleba to as part of the Cobb & Co Festival celebrating the anniversary of Australia’s last horse-drawn mail coach service

5. CraftAlive Toowoomba
Saturday is the final day of CraftAlive that included the latest craft supplies and trends, featuring both experienced teachers and new designers.
Class bookings are day and time specific, and it’s recommend booking ahead to secure your spot. Please note, entry tickets are not day specific.

6. Endless Edit
A fun and social Sunday morning, Toowoomba’s Endless Edit at 58 Neil St is a chance to either buy or sell quality preloved clothing, shoes and accessories.
The indoor venue has change rooms, a coffee van onsite and free carparking to ensure everyone has a great experience. Entry fee is $2.
7. Learn to meditate
Over three sessions, Gen Kelsang Ani, resident teacher of Kadampa Meditation Centre Brisbane will explain the benefits of daily meditation and will guide you through simple meditations that you can use to form your own meditation practice.
Everybody is welcome to attend the workshop at Toowoomba City Library on Saturday from 10am, regardless of experience. This workshop consists of practical teachings and short guided meditations that will give rise to a peaceful feeling in the mind and improve your ability to live a peaceful life.
8. Prayer meeting
Toowoomba Revival Centre Church will be hosting a prayer meeting at Toowoomba City Library, third floor meeting rooms, on Sunday at 10.30am
9. Cruise for Cancer
Darling Downs Harley Owners Group is hosting their annual Cruise for Cancer this weekend, including a show and shine event on Saturday and an anniversary dinner open to the public on Saturday night.
The show and shine will be at 329 Taylor St from 8am to 12pm and will feature a coffee van and sausage sizzle, while the dinner will be at Burke and Wills Hotel. For more details call Paul on 0409 641 657 or Troy on 0477 378 343.
10. Markets
The Toowoomba region is home to many markets that include farm-fresh produce to unique eclectic finds. The Cabarlah Market will be held this Sunday, August 25 at the Cabarlah Sports Ground from 7.30am till 12.30pm. Admission and parking are free.
Every Saturday Toowoomba Farmers’ Market is as 27 Lindsay St, East Toowoomba (near the windmills at Cobb & Co Museum) from 7am to 12pm, and every Sunday the Toowoomba PCYC Market is at 219 James St from 7am to 12.30pm.
