Here are ten things to do in Toowoomba, the Darling Downs and Lockyer Valley this weekend.
1. Chinese New Year
Monty Brewing Co. will celebrate the Lunar New Year of the Dragon with a traditional Lion Dance and Chinese Culture Dance performance featuring the University of the Third Age Chinese Taichi and Dancing Group.
The Year of the Dragon is anticipated to bring auspicious opportunities and exciting advancements for all.
Those born under the dragon sign are reputed for their innovative thinking and inquisitive nature, and often flourish in their professional pursuits.
To celebrate the New Year drop into Monty Brewing Co, off the New England Highway at Highfields from 2pm on Saturday.
2. Get Crafty
The monthly, indoor Makers Market features more than 100 of the best makers, food trucks, performers and artists from across our regions.
The run for five hours from 8am on Sunday at the Railway Good Shed in Victoria St.
3. Make something special
Valentine’s Day is around the corner and you can make something special for someone special at the Cobb and Co Museum at the weekend.
Under the expert instruction of seasoned jewellery artisan Jemica Ostrofski, participants will create a statement ring or stack of rings using sterling silver, copper, brass and aluminium.
The workshop runs over two days, starting 9am on Saturday. Contact the museum for more details.
4. Enjoy the music
The Toowoomba Regional Council will host the latest leg of its Summer Tunes festival at the Cambooya Hall.
The tunes will ring out from 4-7pm on Sunday.
5. Community barbecue
Toowoomba Regional Council candidate Andrew Reeson is holding a free community barbecue at Westbrook Park for 12pm on Sunday.
The event is supported by Hilltop Skateshop and will feature a free sausage sizzle, kids’ activities and a skateboard workshop.
6. Neil Young tribute band
Hear Neil Young’s classic album Harvest played in full by the The Honey Sliders at Empire Theatre’s Armitage Centre.
With stunning visuals, jaw-dropping vocals, and energetic instrumentalists, this performance will get you dancing in your seat. Doors open at 7pm on Saturday.
7. Fine food and wine
Rosalie House is hosting a long table lunch where patron can indulge in an unforgettable meal featuring local ingredients paired with the venue’s beautiful wines
The Saturday session will include wine-tasting, a welcoming cocktail, private tour of the vineyard and seasonal grazing menu with concierge table service.

8. Flipp’d turns Two
Toowoomba’s much loved barcade with celebrate its second year in business.
From 12pm until late on Saturday all arcade, pinball and tabletop games at the venue will be free to play.
9. Owl’ing good time
Do you love owls, cheese and wine? If so, check out Awassi Cheesery’s Evening with the Owls.
The night starts with the famous Awassi Cheeseboards and Awassi lamb burgers.
As the lights go down get ready for the Owls to take centre stage. The centre will educate attendee about these amazing creatures and the owls will entertain you with individual prowess.

10. Knights fight
Toowoomba’s own medieval combat club, Tyr’s Warriors are proud to present Fight Knight XXII at the Toowoomba Showground from 6pm on Saturday.
The armour is real, the weapons are real and the action is real.
There will be a series of one-on-one fights and a cage match with live music from Empire Within.
