What’s on: 10 things to do this weekend across Toowoomba, Darling Downs | April 4-5, 2025

There’s something for everyone this weekend, from a celebration of music legends gone too soon, to writing workshops, Harmony Day picnics and plenty more. FULL DETAILS.

In a welcome reprieve from the wet weather, the forecast for Toowoomba this weekend is for a bit more sunshine than we’ve seen these past few days.

To make the most of the clearing skies, here are 10 things to do across Toowoomba and the Darling Downs this weekend.

1. Harmony Day picnic

Join the Toowoomba International Multicultural Society to celebrate Harmony Day.

The free event will be held from 10am to 2pm on Saturday at the Grand Central grand staircase near Vapiano. The event will showcase inspirational speakers, Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony, cultural dancers, performers, musicians, workshops and a cultural fashion show.

2. Classic rock at The Powerhouse

Break out the ripped jeans and leather jackets for a night of classic rock at The Powerhouse.

Their first live event for 2025, classic rock returns to the house of power Saturday night from 7pm as local rock bands, including Ben Ross, Kingston Crumb, Solitary Men, and Observe the Goose light up the stage and rattle some windows. 3. 27 Club

A celebration of the musical legends who will forever by 27 and their enduring legacy, the infamous club is forming once again to rock Toowoomba’s Empire Theatre on Saturday.

This live rockumentary features music and stories from the likes of Joplin, Winehouse, Cobain, Morrison, and Hendrix, each the voice of their generation.

Saluting the fated members of the 27 Club will be Australian rock icons Sarah McLeod (The Superjesus) and Justin Burford (End of Fashion, The Sleepy Jackson, Rock of Ages) with Carla Lippis (Mondo Psycho) and Dusty Lee Stephensen (Wanderers).

4. Sunflower bouquet class

In this workshop learn how to create a stunning Sunflower Cupcake Bouquet using buttercream piping techniques.

Cupcake artist Simone will teach you all her tips and tricks in this three hour in-person class. Take home your piping tips and your bouquet.

5. Writing workshop

This two hour workshop It’s Time to Write will be centred on writing activities and challenges to create, reinspire, or reconnect you with your writing practice.

The two-hour workshop will be at The Toowoomba City Library Meeting Room 2 on Saturday from 10am. Tickets are $55, available at the door.

6. Morning tea

After wet weather forced the postponement of this event, head along to the Bernoth Centre on Saturday from 8.30am to 10.30am and be inspired as two local business women share their knowledge in finance/mortgage lending and property acquisition while enjoying morning tea and finding some great offers at our market stalls.

7. Fill a bag

Held by Little Jumpers Clothing Exchange at New Hope Toowoomba, come along and rummage for a bargain at this fill a bag sale.

Bags provided and for $20 you can get as many baby clothes as you can fit. Tubs will be topped up during the day and a coffee van will be on site. To learn more visit www.newhope.org.au.

8. Stretch and Sip

Join Bloom Holistric Collective Yoga Studio on the first Saturday of the month for a casual get-together and connect with fellow community members over a warm beverage.

9. Glenvale community barbecue

Lifeworks Uniting Church will host a free sausage sizzle at 615 Boundary St on Sunday from 4pm. All are welcome to join, and there’ll even be an Easter egg hunt for the kids.

10. Markets

Stock up on fresh produce and homemade goodies for your weekend celebrations at one of Toowoomba’s quality markets.

Saturday: Toowoomba Farmers’ Market is as 27 Lindsay St, East Toowoomba (near the windmills at Cobb Co Museum) from 7am to 12pm.

Sunday: the Toowoomba PCYC Market is at 219 James St from 7am to 12.30pm.
