The Toowoomba region is full of fun and exciting events this weekend to keep everyone in the family entertained. From a scavenger hike for mental health to farmers’ markets, here’s a list of 10 things you can do this weekend.

The Toowoomba region is full of fun and exciting events this weekend to keep everyone in the family entertained.

From a scavenger hike for mental health to farmers’ markets, here’s a list of 10 things you can do this weekend.

1. Hike to Heal

The award-winning Hike to Heal Scavenger Hike is back again on Saturday at Mt Peel Bushland Park.

Meet at the Westminster entrance for the official start from 8.30am before setting out on the scavenger hike, which is a self-paced, non-competitive, classically fun outdoor activity for all ages.

The challenges are designed to inspire and show everyone how much fun can be outdoors.

Have fun following clues to find natural treasures and solve riddles.

You can take part in the Hike to Heal Scavenger Hunt as an individual, family or team, and will help make a difference in the lives of those dealing with suicide loss and help raise awareness about mental ill health.

2. ABBA tribute show

Mamma Mia! The only ABBA duo in Australia, ABBA Girls, will be taking the stage of City Golf Club Toowoomba on Saturday from 8pm.

From Eurovision victory to the smash hit stage musical films of Mamma Mia, ABBA Girls will sing all the fan favourites including S.O. S, Dancing Queen and Chiquitita. To learn more, visit the City Golf Club Toowoomba website.

3. Car meet

Exposure Auto Club will be holding a car meet on Saturday from 5.30pm at SuperCheap Auto, on the corner of James and Neil streets. Bring your friends, family and pets and get your motor running, with the car show to include a run to Pieface Highfields.

4. Garden Party

Head down to Kingfishers Cafe and Restaurant for an Afternoon Tea Garden Party on Saturday from 2.30pm.

A chef’s selection of finger sandwiches, freshly made scones and pikelets will be among the treats on offer.

Tickets for members are $35, while for non-members it’ll cost $45, and please note this is a women’s only, over 18 event.

5. Queens Park Markets

Back again for the first time in 2024 is the Queens Park Markets at Frogs Hollow.

Plenty of stalls will be up and running, with a wide variety of wares on sale.

6. Hockey fun day

The Rangeville Hockey Club will be holding a Bulldog Day to allow families to try out the fun sport of hockey.

It’s a day for the whole club to come together before the season starts, with coaching clinics for the juniors and practice matches and trials for the J1/2 and senior grades.

There will also be an opportunity for a social six-a-side match.

Head along to the Toowoomba Hockey Association fields on Boundary St, Glenvale on Saturday from 8am to 6pm. To learn more, call 0412 344 932.

7. Scrapbook workshop

Head down to the Toowoomba Philharmonic Society at 7 Matthews St for Marsha’s Close To My Heart scrapbook workshop.

Your registration fee of $20 includes morning and afternoon tea, free make and take, a take home technique sampler, lucky door prize, new product display and an optional layout for $20 should you choose to do it.

8. Adoption day

Street Cat Alliance will be at Wilsonton Shopping Centre on Saturday from 9am to 3pm for a sausage sizzle to raise funds for their cats and kittens in care as part of Petbarn Rescue Month. Learn more about fostering, volunteering and becoming a donor, or find a new furry friend with cats and kitten up for adoption.

9. Yoga course

Do you want to know what a down face dog is, or what the difference between Warrior I and Warrior II is? Bloom offers beginner’s yoga courses just for you. Learn more about yoga at a beginners yoga course on Sunday from 9.30am. For more details, visit www.bloomholistic.com.au.

10. Rugby club sign on

Come on down to the University of Southern Queensland Rugby Fields for their Uni Rugby Family Fun Day Sign On, taking place from 9.30am until 2pm on Saturday.
