There’s been a murder on the starship Genesis, everyone is a suspect and you have to figure it out.
That is the pitch for an innovative and interactive theatre production in the Toowoomba CBD, which will showcase the best of the city’s actors, visual artists and musicians.
Toowoomba creative organisation First Coat Studios will debut Murder on the Starship Genesis on July 1 at the office of Rare Squid Creative on Margaret Street.
Featuring 10 cast and crew members mostly trained in Toowoomba, the production will allow audiences to interact with the cast to try and solve the mystery.
First Coat director Paddy Long said he was excited to see residents treated to something they might not have seen in Toowoomba before.
“It’s a completely immersive, interactive sci-fi murder mystery,” he said.
“Unlike most murder mystery nights, where they’re normally a dinner theatre thing, the immersive quality of this is you are completely inside of it and for some parts you maintain your autonomy.
“The whole building looks like a campy ‘70s sci-fi series.
“There are live alien musicians, so you could watch that or you could look for clues — as a viewer you’re encouraged to walk around freely.”
The production is sponsored by Rare Squid Creative and Banter Coffee.
There are just 35 tickets available for each of the three nights between July 1-3, with the $25 entry including two free drinks.
For tickets, head to the First Coat Studios website.
