The best monster truck in Australia has arrived in Toowoomba and is warming up for its tour of destruction show on Saturday.
The volume will be turned up this weekend at the Toowoomba Showgrounds for a nailbiting show of monster truck mayhem.
Wheelies, jumps, doughnuts, crashes and flames are on the program, along with a demolition derby and a laser and fireworks show.
Nine-year-old Charlie Featherby was testing the accelerator on the quad bike at the showgrounds on Tuesday, as her dad, veteran monster truck driver Clive Featherby, suited up for a drive in Outback Thunder.
Ms Featherby said her favourite thing was driving in the shows, but said her dad usually got the biggest cheer.
“It’s really fun for kids to do,” Charlie said.
Mr Featherby said the highlight of the show was going to a be a jet van that was going to back into a car and “burn it to the ground”.
“It uses 200 litres of Jet A-1 (fuel) in two minutes,” he said.
Having been in the business for more than 30 years Mr Featherby said the biggest change was in costs.
“When I first started coming here it cost was $18,000 to run the whole show, but now it costs $200,000,” he said.
While the Outback Thunder has undergone six different transformations over the years, it is still the best in Australia, being the only Australian monster truck that’s competed in the USA, he said.
Monster trucks tour of destruction kicks off this at 4pm, this Saturday at Toowoomba Showgrounds.
