When Teela Strang first announced she would be bringing Lok and Kee The Experience to the Garden City, it was a risky yet exciting prospect for Toowoomba, which is often considered highly conservative.
The theatrical movement was unlike any other the region had witnessed before, with heart-stopping combinations of fire twirling, aerial, drag and burlesque performances.
Now almost two years on since the unique venture launched, Ms Strang has opened up about the challenging, yet rewarding journey and how she will continue to strive towards breaking new grounds in the night-life scene.
“Navigating the intersection of entertainment and hospitality, coupled with learning the intricacies of business behind the scenes has presented numerous hurdles,” she said.
“Working with creatives, cultivating relationships, and consistently striving for quality without settling for the ordinary has been both challenging and fulfilling.”
Eager to broaden her audience scope and convey Lok and Kee as a premium experience for special occasions, Ms Strang said captivating audiences and seeing people connect had been her biggest joy.
With the festive season just around the corner, the business owner is unveiling her final show of the year – 12 Days of Christmas, with seven talented performances set to showcase their aerialist, contortionist, comedy and burlesque skills among others.
“It promises a rich tapestry of drama, subtle hints of peril, exceptional creativity, and ample opportunities for genuine laughter as we approach the festive season,” Ms Strang said.
“We allow our customers to discover unparalleled entertainment offering the ultimate experience and redefining night-life in Toowoomba, with a captivating blend of live performances, delectable tapas, and an unmissable adventure.”
The adults only event will be held on Saturday, December 2, at The Powerhouse at 20 Neil St. Doors open at 6.30pm.
Tickets start from $25 and can be purchased at lokandkee.com.au
