A much beloved Australian musician has sadly had to cancel plans to tour in Toowoomba and Queensland following an injury on his regional property.
True Blue singer John Williamson’s appearance at the Empire Theatre in the Garden City in February has been postponed, alongside shows at Tamworth, Ipswich and Redlands.
Mr Williamson was in an accident at his Springbrook property on January 15, injuring his hand, leading to the show’s postponement.
“Well, after 40 years of messing around with rocks at Willowshed, one finally got me on the left hand. It ripped the skin badly and needed surgery (on Tuesday) to repair muscle and nerve damage and stitch it up again,” Mr Williamson said.
“The surgeon said no guitar playing for probably four weeks. I apologise to everyone who was looking forward to my Tamworth concert and the three at Redland, Ipswich and Toowoomba.
“I’m still planning to get to Tamworth for the Golden Guitar Awards and the opportunity to catch up with mates. I will see you around and about there.”
Mr Williamson said he was disappointed to miss his Town Hall concert but is determined to be back for next year’s event.
The Home Among the Gum Trees crooner last toured the Garden City in 2021, and was due to play on Saturday, February 3.
The country music star’s team said they will advise ASAP new dates for all Queensland shows, and for punters to hold onto their tickets.
The team appreciate your understanding and all wish John well for his speedy recovery.
