10 things to do in Toowoomba this weekend | May 24-25

From a massive vintage clothing sale, to sunflower farm open day and a high tea fundraiser, there’s much to do this weekend.

Toowoomba Municipal Brass Band will present an early evening concert on Saturday in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Neil Street, Toowoomba.

Toowoomba Municipal Brass Band will present an early evening concert on Saturday in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Neil Street, Toowoomba.

It will feature spectacular brass music highlighting some talented individuals and families within the band.

The band’s recently recorded album, Tell the Story, will be launched and available for sale. Renowned composer Barrie Gott will conduct some of his works. This concert is perfect for music lovers of all ages.

Doors open at 4pm on Saturday.

2. Explore the city

Toowoomba Trails will host a walking tour of the Garden City this weekend.

From the home of the “King of Toowoomba” to the humble workers’ cottages of the Mort Estate, the walk will explore historic streets and share the stories - architectural, historical, personal and sometimes tragic - of the significant buildings along the way.

3. Art in the hill

The Withcott Helidon Lions Club is holding an exhibition of local artwork at the Steve Jones Community Centre through the weekend.

The Foothills Art Show will be open from 10am-3pm Saturday and 8am-1pm Sunday.

4. Ringing tunes.

If you are looking for something different, check out the Toowoomba Handbell Ensembles’ Ring and Swing night.

Held at Club Toowoomba, the afternoon promises a rollicking good time, with special guests Pinkines on Ice Saxophone Quintet.

Drinks are available from the bar, with meals after the concerts.

Doors open at 4pm on Saturday.

5. Step back in time

The Highfields Pioneer Village will be putting on some billy tea and damper to celebrate the arrival of its newly restored 1913 Model T bus.

There will be bird feeding, a sausage sizzle, ice-creams and miniature steam train rides.

Guests will also have a chance to ride the vintage bus through the grounds.

Gates open all weekend from 10am-4pm, with the main event to be held on Sunday.

6. Pink Diamond Blush High Tea

Indulge in an elegant afternoon of high tea featuring a selection of fine teas, delectable treats, and sparkling wine at the Empire Theatre.

Lannah Dunn has donated a selection of jewellery to be raffled off with all money raised going to Blush Cancer Care.

This event supports breast cancer awareness and offers a chance to dress up and socialise for a worthy cause.

The event runs from 2-5pm on Saturday.

7. Pick your own sunflowers

Warraba will open its sunflower paddocks to the public from 9am to sunset on Saturday and Sunday.

For the admission price, you can pick as many sunflowers as you can carry.

Polaris transport will be available for visitors requiring assistance. There are multiple paddocks in bloom- the first is located next to the roadside.

Entry prices range from $5-10. 439 McNallys Road, Cambooya.

8. Endless Edit sale

Discover a curated selection of fashion, homewares, and lifestyle products from local designers and boutiques at a massive sale in the heart of Toowoomba.

Doors open on Sunday from 8am to noon. $2 entry at the Toowoomba Indoor Bowling Association.

9. Insect exhibition

Discover more than 1000 unique insect specimens, from brightly coloured butterflies to tiny ants, and more at the Cobb and Co Museum.

Learn more about the fascinating world of minuscule creatures, snap a few photos, and test your skills with interactive games.

The museum is open 9am-4pm, daily.

10. Markets

Stock up on fresh produce and homemade goodies for your weekend celebrations at one of Toowoomba’s quality markets.

Saturday: Toowoomba Farmers’ Market is as 27 Lindsay St, East Toowoomba (near the windmills at Cobb Co Museum) from 7am to 12pm.

Sunday: the Toowoomba PCYC Market is at 219 James St from 7am to 12.30pm.
