Toowoomba’s Cloe Terare knew this year was set to be a big one and she’s already collecting the silverware to prove it.
The talented First Nations singer-songwriter won one of her biggest prizes to date at the Queensland Music Awards on Wednesday night.
Ms Terare took home the regional song of the year award for her track Intentions, done in collaboration with dance artist JDG.
Speaking to her fans on social media, the singer said she was still pinching herself after the win.
“The most surreal moment of my life — absolutely honoured to have received the regional award for Intentions,” she wrote.
“I wish I could give a little piece of this award to every person who has supported my music journey this far because we couldn’t do it without you.
“Congratulations to the nominees last night, so humbling to be listed alongside you guys.”
Ms Terare told The Chronicle last year she had no plans to leave Toowoomba, calling it a great place to write music.
“I can’t see myself leaving — I just feel a lot calmer,” she said.
“I don’t feel I’m at work, I just feel I’m away from it and in this little private area.”
