The following article contains spoilers from FBoy Island episodes 3 and 4

Reality TV shows usually follow the same formula: girl meets boy, boy pisses off girl, girl eliminates boy.

But Binge’s new dating series FBoy Island just turned the formula on its head after one of its stars made a major backflip. And girl, pass the popcorn.

Typically on dating programs, once a contestant is eliminated, they’re sent packing and are never heard from again. Unless, of course, they reinvent themselves as influencers and promote dildos and donuts on social media.

Behind-the-scenes on FBoy Island

However, on FBoy Island, the contestants don’t actually leave the island at all (more on this later), giving way for a reunion of sorts between the eliminator and the eliminated.

And this is exactly what transpired on today’s double episode. Oh, and there is also fresh meat in the form of intruders and one bloke is accused of dumping his girlfriend to be on show. Let’s debrief …

Welcome back, Mr Nice Guy!

To give you a refresher, three women – Molly O’Halloran, 26, Ziara Rae, 21, and Sophie Blackley, 26 – call the shots on the show as they date their way through 24 men: 12 of which are Nice Guys looking for love, the other 12 are FBoys who are there only to win the $50,000 cash prize.

If the women eliminate a Nice Guy, he is taken to “Nice Guy Grotto”, a beachside oasis where they feast of canapes and sip on cocktails.

If an FBoy is eliminated, they are sent to “Limbro”, a makeshift beach camp where host Abbie Chatfield tries to work rehabilitate them to become nice guys.

Cast your mind back to last week and Molly sent home construction manager Nick, thinking he was an FBoy. He revealed during elimination night that he was actually a Nice Guy, and Molly instantly regretted her decision. For seven whole days.

But given the women call the shots on the show, Molly pulls some strings and has Nick reinstated in the competition.

“The girls are in charge on this show, so they make the rules,” Abbie says in a voiceover as Nick walks back into the villa, much to the shock of existing contestants.

As for Nick, he doesn’t care if his return ruffles some FBoy feathers because he thinks he’s the only match for Molly.

“I want to be here for Molly and I don’t think any of these boys are up to scratch,” he tells the group upon his return.

Intruders arrive and stir the pot

Perhaps Nick spoke to soon because while he was eating grapes on Nice Guy Grotto, three intruders were unleashed in the villa, with existing contestant Lakshya complaining that that is what the series needs: “More d*cks.”

Intruder #1 Simon is clearly in it to win with this catchphrase: “I would f**k myself if I could.” Intruder #2 Chris boasts that when he shots, he doesn’t miss. And Intruder #3 Vernon, claims to be a Nice Guy who loves love.

He loves love all right – he apparently was loved-up just one week before he signed up for the show, despite claiming he was single in the six months prior to filming.

Secret relationship called out

Fellow FBoy Mitch is the one who outs Vernon. Mitch recalls chatting to a girl on Instagram and asking why she was still single. Turns out, it was because her boyfriend (yep, Vernon) dumped her to go on FBoy Island.

Mitch the Snitch – as he’s later called – then tells everyone on the island (cameramen included) about Vernon’s relationship, and word swiftly gets back to Molly at the elimination ceremony.

He somehow manages to dodge the elimination bullet, but she pulls him aside later to chat about his relationship status.

Needless to say, Vernon denies splitting from his ex to go on the show. But in a later confessional, he admits he “straight up lied” to Molly’s face.

“You gotta do what you gotta do,” he says, smugly.

Someone who isn’t impressed with Vernon is Nick, who calls him a “knock-off” version of the Honey Badger, aka former The Bachelor star Nick Cummins.

Speaking of snitches, Nico tries to do the same thing by outing Justin’s comments about Sophie, who is quite taken by the tattooed personal trainer.

Viewers see that Justin is on the show for the money and is not attracted to Sophie or the other two women – and Nico is compelled to “spit facts” and tell her the truth. Why? Because he has a younger sister and wants to look out for women.

It’s all very admirable until Nico outs himself as an FBoy and Justin lives to fight another day in the villa when Sophie takes his word over Nico’s.

Moral to the story? Snitches get stitches... and the boot.

There may still be some FBoys among the ranks, but this week Molly, Sophie and Ziara are getting closer to weeding them out of the competition after they correctly eliminated five FBoys.

Some of their video auditions prior to entering the show are then aired with Lakshya claiming he doesn’t talk to “anyone below a seven” on the hotness scale and Mitch admitting her likes “playing with chicks” but “doesn’t get attached” as he “can’t be f***ed dealing with them during the week”.

Limbro or not, is there any hope for these lads? Only time will tell...
