Kylie Minogue lets loose at Ibiza club to debut new single

What’s that? Just an Aussie pop icon, wildly dancing on the DJ booth among revellers at a sweaty Ibiza club.

Kylie Minogue has teased fans won't have to "wait too long" for a new album

Kylie Minogue: Princess of pop, Queen of clubs.

The Aussie music icon made a surprise appearance at Ibiza dance party Circoloco, dropping in on DJ The Blessed Madonna’s set to premiere their brand new collaboration – a song called Edge of Saturday Night.

And Minogue, 56, certainly got into the spirit of the night, with one candid photo circulating on social media showing her dancing wildly on top of the DJ booth.

The Blessed Madonna shared some insight into the new song in an Instagram post showing she and Minogue dancing to the song together at the club’s DJ booth.

“This song is about edges. I started this song when we were on the edge of lockdown, writing lyrics on the edge of being a new person, on the edge of levelling up as a producer,” she wrote.

“The song went on a journey but finally found its edge when Kylie came into my life and breathed an energy into Edge, and into me. So here we are together, Marge and Kiki.”

More footage circulating on social media shows Minogue making what appears to be another club cameo in Ibiza – this time she’s dressed in fishnet tights and a ripped-up top, holding on to the ceiling rafters as she launches herself off the DJ booth and across the revellers, almost crowd-surfing as they hold her up.

While the song itself has not yet been released on streaming, Edge of Saturday Night is the latest in a string of high-profile collaborations for Minogue since her latest studio album Tension was released last year.

So far in 2024, Minogue has released duets with fellow Aussie Sia (Dance Alone), country-pop star Orville Peck (Midnight Ride) and pop girlies Bebe Rexha and Tove Lo (My Oh My).

Then there was another onstage collaboration fans had waited decades to see: Minogue joined the Madonna onstage during the Queen of Pop’s Celebration tour in March, the pair singing I Will Survive and Can’t Get You Out of Head in a long overdue joint appearance.

Among all that new music, Australian fans are eagerly awaiting more word on some other news Minogue teased recently.

Minogue appeared on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick radio show earlier this month when they asked if an Australian tour was “on the cards.”

“Uh … I want to say yes. Yes. The answer is yes! We’re just locking down details,” she said. “Maybe I wasn’t meant to say that, but yes!”

That announcement came in just the nick of time for Aussie Kylie fans: She hasn’t toured here since the Golden jaunt of March 2019, but she was due to headline this month’s Splendour in the Grass festival in Byron Bay. The festival was cancelled earlier this year, just days after tickets went on sale.

Since the Golden tour, Minogue has released two more studio albums, Aussie number ones Disco and Tension. The former was released during lockdown in 2020, making it the first Kylie Minogue album in many years not to be supported by an extensive tour.

The latter was released late last year off the back of the surprise global hit Padam Padam, and saw Minogue launch an entirely new career venture for her: A Las Vegas residency.

In planning an Australian tour, Minogue could do a lot worse than repeating the setlist from her recent headlining show at London’s Hyde Park, which included classics like Better the Devil You Know and Love At First Sight alongside live debuts of some of her newest songs.
