Chris Hemsworth sets record straight on ‘dementia diagnosis’

Robert Downey Jr. has led a hilarious group roast of Chris Hemsworth during the Australian actor’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

Hemsworth, 40, is the latest recipient of a star on the famed strip, with his wife Elsa Pataky, two of their children and his parents Leonie and Craig all present during the presentation on Thursday.

Iron Man actor Downey Jr. started the ceremony on a kind note, saying Hemsworth had a “contagious Aussie charm” and was a “remarkable human being.”

“He’s a bit daunting to describe... he’s very elusive because of the pretty packaging,” Downey Jr. said.

“He has a true blue wit and depth of soul, and it has been my sincere pleasure to know you these many years. You keep us Hollywood folk on our toes because you’re just a real dude.”

And then came “the roast”, as Downey Jr. assembled their fellow ‘Avengers’ with the task of describing Hemsworth in just three words.

First Downey Jr. read out Jeremy Renner’s response, and he proved the most earnest of the bunch: “Absurdly, annoyingly amazing.”

Mark Ruffalo “came in strong” with simply: “Friend from work.”

Scarlett Johansson nailed the Thor actor, calling him a “sensitive leading lady.”

Finally, Chris Evans – who plays Captain America – had Downey Jr. finishing the roast on a hilarious note, calling him, “Second best Chris”, leaving Hemsworth in fits of laughter.

The Aussie actor’s co-stars Mark Ruffalo and Chris Evans both contributed to the roast.

Accepting the honour, Hemsworth gushed about his wife, whom he married in 2010 before he shot global superstardom in 2011’s Thor.

“I want to say thank you to my beautiful wife, who has been here for my entire career basically by my side, endlessly encouraging and supportive,” Hemsworth said.

He continued, “And it doesn’t get lost on me that she put aside her own dreams in order to support mine and, again, (I am) forever in your debt.

“The fact (is) that nothing that I do, any of these moments, these special occasions and events, none of it is special without you by my side. I love you.”

Hemsworth’s latest blockbuster, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, hit cinemas in Australia on Thursday.

Director George Miller and co-star Anya Taylor-Joy were also present during his Hollywood star ceremony.
