Marty Sheargold erupts after Jim Jefferies misses interview

A Melbourne radio host was less than impressed when comedian Jim Jefferies failed to show up for a prearranged interview.

A Triple M radio host unleashed on comedian Jim Jefferies after he failed to show up for a prerecorded interview.

Marty Sheargold, who hosts the breakfast show on Triple M in Melbourne, was meant to interview Jefferies on Monday about his recently announced Give ‘Em What They Want Tour, which just so happens to be proudly presented by Triple M.

“I’m supposed to do a prerecorded interview with him to help him sell tickets … and he just won’t get out of bed,” Sheargold claimed on air.

The radio host was meant to be giving away tickets to Jefferies’ tour on his show, but said that would no longer be happening due to the missed interview.

“Jim’s made his decision,” Sheargold said. “We’re going to pull his tickets out of Three-way (a game they play on air), we’ll find another prize, and Jim doesn’t get mentioned again.

“Pull your fingers out of your ar*e and do your job, that’s what you’re here for,” Sheargold said in an apparent message to Jefferies.

“Sell tickets to your own show. It’s not my responsibility to sell tickets for you, ya deadsh*t!”

News.com.au understands that Jefferies was actually awake and ready for the interview via phone, having filmed a TV special to midnight the night prior, but Sheargold’s producers were unaware he was waiting due to a mix-up in communications.

Jefferies did complete a number of interviews with other Triple M shows around the country on Monday morning.

Jefferies, who is based in the US, is one of Australia’s biggest comedy exports.

He’s had nine comedy specials and had his own talk show in the US called The Jim Jefferies Show which featured Brad Pitt as the program’s weather reporter.

He also hosts quiz show, The 1% Club, on Channel Seven.
