Kelsea Ballerini has taken a swipe at her Aussie ex by complimenting her new boyfriend for something her ex never did

Country singer Kelsea Ballerini has taken a swipe at her Aussie ex-husband Morgan Evans on Instagram.

Ballerini and Evans announced they were getting divorced late last year and things all seemed amicable enough until Evans released ‘Over For You’, a song assumedly inspired by the break-up.

The lyrics are: “I would have searched the whole world over for you. Took a flight through the night to be that shoulder for you. How long has it been over for you?”

Evans sang his little heart out about how he was torn up by their break-up and things got very messy from there.

In response, Ballerini released a song called ‘Blindsided’ and when she performed it live on Saturday Night Live she updated the lyrics to take a swipe at his declaration he would have searched the whole world over for her.

“Now you’re singing out loud on the radio. You couldn’t say it to my face. You would’ve searched the whole world over. Yeah, sure. OK,” she crooned.

Pretty quickly their break-up and constant musical jibes to each other became very viral on TikTok.

If that wasn’t enough drama, Ballerini also went on the popular podcast Call Her Daddy and opened up further about the reason they got divorced.

“As he’s putting out a song about being blindsided, he’s taking half the house that he didn’t pay for. How was I married to this person?” she asked.

She also dived into the nitty gritty of what went wrong in their seemingly perfect relationship and explained why she felt alone in the relationship.

“I remembered I called him and I was sobbing and I was like ‘I’m in a bad place, I need you, please get on a flight,’ and I sent him on the flight and he didn’t come and I remember feeling really embarrassed,” she said.

Fast-forward to 2023, Ballerini is now dating Netflix star Chase Stokes, uploading an Instagram story of her hugging the actor after he decided to surprise her at one of her shows. Get it? He took the flight.

Stokes posted the photo on his Instagram, writing: “I’ve missed/lost too many flights to count.”

A fan re-posted the image with the caption, “Chase taking the last fight to see her! Proving again that if he wants to he will”, prompting Ballerini to share it herself to really drive the point home.

“I’m touring he is filming and he still flew from Charleston to Seattle for 24 hours to surprise me and see the show. This man,” she wrote.

Meanwhile Evans has not spoken extensively about the break-up but he did take to Instagram after her podcast interview.

“It is really sad for me to see this person, who I spent so much of my life with, and loved with all my heart, saying things that aren’t reality and that leave out what really happened,” he wrote.
