The former winner of Miss Universe Australia has called US President Donald Trump a “crazy person” and said he’s “very calculated”.
Erin McNaught, who represented Australia in the 2006 Miss Universe competition, told B105’s Stav, Abby and Matt she met Mr Trump three or four times, adding she was hand-picked to appear on the David Letterman show.
“He seems like a crazy person to me,” McNaught said. “I didn’t know him well when I did the Miss Universe competition. I met him maybe three or four times. And he is this enigma because the stuff that comes out of his mouth … Is he saying that because of media gain, or for personal gain? He’s just, he’s very calculated.
“I mean he was always so lovely to us. But of course he’s going to be lovely to a bunch of beautiful girls.”

McNaught said she was told she was “personally selected” by Mr Trump to appear on the Late Show With David Letterman.
“At the time, your ego, you’re like, ‘Oh my god. He picked me.’ But in retrospect the whole thing, it’s just a bit wrong nowadays.”
The 38-year-old mum-of-two said she wouldn’t do the competition again in the same format it ran when she competed in 2006.
She said the contemporary format includes charity components as well as talent and personality components.
“It’s not just a swimsuit competition,” McNaught said. “Having kids has changed my perspective as well because I don’t want my boys to aspire to be with a girl that’s a model or whatever. It’s a bit weird.”
The Miss Universe Pageant was founded in 1952, and was first televised in 1955. Mr Trump bought the swimsuit competition in 1996. He told Letterman he’d “fixed” the competition.
“I made the heels higher and the bathing suits smaller,” Mr Trump said.
Mr Trump sold the Miss Universe organisation to WMG-IMG talent agency in 2015.
