Her appearance may have been fleeting but Meghan Markle’s candid cameo in Prince Harry’s bombshell Heart of Invictus documentary speaks volumes about their relationship, a body language expert says.

A clip from the new Netflix documentary series shows Prince Harry looking flustered and boyish while Meghan looks calm and controlled, Judi James told The Sun.

In a scene from the first episode, Meghan is seen supporting Prince Harry as he awaits to give a speech at the Salute to Freedom Gala in New York, their first public event after Covid lockdowns were lifted in late 2021.

“We haven’t done this for a while,” Prince Harry says, referencing their farewell tour in March 2020, when they made their last appearance as working royals.

“I know,” Meghan replies.

“My heart, I’m like...”, Prince Harry said, as he imitated his heart beating fast, while Meghan supportively clutched his hand.

“I’m nervous,” he giggled.

Prince Harry is then seen impatiently waiting backstage as he paces the room, while eating snacks and practising some deep breathing to slow down his racing heart.

He then heads to the stage, with Meghan seen adjusting her dress by herself as the door closed behind them.

Despite his initial nerves, Prince Harry took to the stage to deliver his speech.

“Tonight, we are here to honour a group of men and women whose lives are defined by service, purpose and of course, resilience,” he tells the audience.

“Many of us in this room understand why service members often feel isolated when they come home or once they leave the forces. Wouldn’t you?.”

Ms James said Prince Harry looked “nervous” with Meghan at his side, which gave viewers a sneak peek into how he felt ahead of big events.

She said: “Here the couple are keen for us to get a glimpse of the real deal though, which was the anxiety running behind the red carpet glamour and Hollywood smiles. ”

“Harry was actually not just nervous, but very, very nervous.”

Ms James said Meghan’s response was “dripping with reassurance and affection. We clearly see how much he leans on Meghan for support and back-up.”

The body language also highlighted Prince Harry’s “uneasy” and “wary” reaction to a question she says made him squirm in the new Netflix series.

At the beginning of the episode, the Duke of Sussex is asked his name, and what he does.

Ms James told The Sun the royal exile appeared to be physically “floundering”.

She told The Sun: “The very best body language from Harry comes at the start of the first episode in a bizarre moment when he is asked by the interviewer who he is and what he does.

“This is an absolute killer question for any royal and Harry is no exception as he appears thrown and floundering.”
