Prince Andrew met with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein when he was under house arrest, court documents suggest.

The Duke of York is alleged to have met Mr Epstein at his Florida home in June 2010, according to The Sun, which contradicts the claims he made in his 2019 Newsnight interview.

In that infamous TV interview, Prince Andrew told Emily Maitlis he only saw Mr Epstein in New York in December that year to end his friendship with the disgraced tycoon. He made no mention of any other contact.

Mr Epstein was released from prison under house arrest following a 13-month sentence for soliciting a minor for prostitution in 2008.

The alleged meeting between the pair in June 2010 was suggested to have taken place in an email, tabled as part of court documents, sent from Mr Epstein to a banker on June 14 of that year, which he said: “Andrew just sat next to me at dinner”.

The court documents were from a civil case brought by the US Virgin Islands Government against JP Morgan in New York.

In them contains a series of emails between Mr Epstein and then JP Morgan boss Jes Staley, which allegedly show how the Duke of York acted as an intermediary, reports The Sun.

Police investigations into Mr Epstein started in 2006. The convicted sex offender, who was awaiting trial for sex trafficking, was found dead in 2019 in his jail cell in Manhattan.

Prince Andrew was contacted for comment.
