Logan Paul’s energy drink just dropped in Australia but another has been banned

Logan Paul’s Australia trip made headlines but there’s a wild reason why one of his energy drinks is banned in Australia.

YouTuber reveals energy drink made $50M in January

Viral sensation Logan Paul and fellow YouTuber KSI have launched their energy drink Prime Hydration in Australia, but their beverage empire is already very controversial.

Logan and KSI’s energy drink Prime Hydration is a sellout success in Australia and has only helped generate more interest in their other caffeinated drink, Prime Energy.

Prime Energy wasn’t launched Down Under because it has almost double the legal caffeine limit.

It contains more than double the caffeine found in Red Bull and V Energy.

While it isn’t directly for sale in Australia, it can be purchased from online retailers and shipped in.

Both Logan and KSI practically shut down Sydney when they appeared on Nine’s Today with hundreds of people turning up in droves to catch a glimpse of the stars.

Dietitian Kamyra La Fauci warns against young people trying to source the banned energy drink.

“Its caffeine levels are so high that it can cause adverse side effects. For example, increased blood pressure, anxiety, heart palpitations and arrhythmias,” she explained.

Fauci also makes it clear that comparing Prime to classic energy drinks like Redbull and V Energy is a mistake because Prime contains far more caffeine.

“Both Red Bull and V have around 80mg caffeine per 250ml can, a much lower than the 200mg found in Prime’s 355ml can. That’s more than double the amount of caffeine per drink, which increases the risk of unwanted side effects,” she explained.

Fauci also warns that YouTubers putting their names on energy drinks will simply bring them back into fashion.

“Logan Paul creating and promoting his new energy drink on these platforms does bring energy drinks back into the spotlight, as they’re likely to be perceived as ‘cool’ or ‘on trend’ - similar to what we’ve seen with vaping,” she explained.

In Fauci’s opinion, energy drinks aren’t exactly safe turf for celebrities.

“Celebrities aren’t trained health professionals, so there are potential dangers with them promoting unhealthy behaviours and products like Prime - especially to its younger audience on social media in which the drink is deemed ‘unsuitable’ for,” she said.

“We saw this with tobacco, which is what led to several bans in advertising on these platforms, and energy drinks like this may be something to consider for the future.”

Fauci stresses that there’s no nutritional benefits to consuming Prime Energy.

“While Prime Energy may be sugar-free, and it contains Sucralose - a type of artificial sweetener,” she said.

“While currently deemed ‘safe’, some studies have shown sweeteners can decrease the beneficial bacteria in our gut and promote inflammation. Also, consuming sweet drinks can increase our desire for more sugary foods in our diet, and impact our weight and health in this way, too.”
