According to a report from TMZ, the filmmaker filed divorce papers on Wednesday citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split, though she did not specify a date for their separation.

According to a source, Holden is seeking spousal support, and she also wants to end the court’s ability to award McCormack spousal support.

The pair do not share any young children together, with their only child being their son, Finnigan Holden McCormack, who is 21.

Holden and McCormack got married on August 3, 1997. Finnigan was born in 2002.

The couple first met back in 1994 on the set of the TV series Lonesome Dove, a Canadian western. Eric was starring as the wealthy Francis Clay Mosby, a former Confederate officer.

They immediately hit it off, though originally kept their romance a secret from the rest of the cast and crew.

Opening up about how they met, the actor recalled the story in an interview with The Guardian.

“She was the assistant director. I was just coming out of a relationship, and not to be trusted,” he said.

“At first she wasn’t too keen. She knew actors are a lot of work; it would be like taking your work home with you. But I managed to convince her.

“We had a secret affair the first season. I mean, dating crew! Actually, it was much worse for her, because she wasn’t supposed to give any of the actors preferential treatment.”

Their last public appearance as a couple was at the 31st Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party in March of this year.
