Mel B begs for divorce court battle to be private to protect children

MEL B and Stephen Belafonte’s divorce continues to play out in court with the singer reportedly on the verge of testifying about the threesome with her nanny.

MEL B wants to keep her domestic violence case against Stephen Belafonte private for the sake of their daughter.

“While [Stephen] may enjoy the media attention, the minor child of this marriage did not ask to be placed in the centre of this mounting storm,” the former Spice Girl, 42, said in court documents obtained by TMZ.

She is asking for the case to be sealed, per TMZ.

Mel B claimed in the filing that paparazzi and reporters have been swarming her whenever she drops off the exes’ daughter, Madison, at Belafonte’s home, and accused the producer of tipping off the press to her arrival.

Mel B also stated that she did not want to testify in court about the alleged domestic abuse.

The singer filed for divorce from Belafonte in March, accusing him of domestic violence and sexual exploitation, claims he has adamantly denied.

It’s not the only legal drama related to the America’s Got Talent judge’s divorce.

Earlier this week, a judge ruled that a lawsuit against Mel B from her and Belafonte’s former nanny Lorraine Gilles, can move forward despite the singer’s request for it be dismissed, according to a report.

Gilles, 26, sued Mel B for libel after Mel claimed that Belafonte got the one-time au pair pregnant and forced her to have an abortion.

Mel B reportedly will now have to give an on-camera deposition about her and Belafonte’s sex life, including alleged threesomes with Gilles.

“It’s a nightmare for Mel. Lorraine’s lawyers have got total license to grill her,” a source told The Sunon Friday. “That’s going to include going into the depths of her sex life. There’s nothing off limits. It could even bring other celebrity names into the mess.”

It’s a topic Mel B seems to be very sensitive about. After fellow AGT judge Simon Cowell joked about her sex life on the NBC hit earlier this week, she tossed a drink at him and stormed off the set.
