Fans have lashed out at Justin Bieber after he appeared to mock his ex Selena Gomez over her recent engagement, with his latest post raising eyebrows.

Fans are claiming Justin Bieber shaded his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez’s engagement to Benny Blanco after he shared a meme to his Instagram Story on Wednesday.

The meme in question featured a scene from The Lord of the Rings when Gollum holds up a gold ring to his eyes in awe.

The text along with the clip notably read, “Girls on social media when they get engaged.”

It didn’t take long for fans on social media to speculate about the meaning behind the Sorry singer’s cryptic post.

Fans believe Justin Bieber has mocked his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez over her engagement to Benny Blanco.

“Justin Bieber going crazy because of Selena’s engagement?? Karma is real,” one person posted via X, along with lyrics from Gomez and Blanco’s new song How Does It Feel to be Forgotten.

“Oh this is embarrassing. Mind you he started crashing out after Selena’s engagement,” another person wrote.

A third user commented, “Such an immature omg, he’s a FATHER of a baby, it’s been almost a decade when will he get over it.”

Reps for Bieber, 31, and Gomez, 32, did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

Benny Blanco popped the question after the couple had been dating for a year.

The Only Murders in the Building star announced her engagement to Blanco, 37, via Instagram in December 2024 after dating for over a year.

At the time, she proudly flaunted her custom marquise diamond ring, which was designed by the music producer and the jewellery duo behind Abril Barret.

But fans believe newly engaged Gomez still took aim at Bieber on her and Blanco’s joint album, I Said I Love You First — which dropped last month.

On How Does It Feel to be Forgotten, the pop star sings, “You’re so embarrassing / Go cry when no one’s watchin’ / I can’t imagine it / How does it feel to be forgotten?”

Gomez and Bieber officially called it quits in March 2018 over “trust issues” after dating on and off for years.

The Peaches singer quickly moved on and married Hailey Bieber in September of that year.

Justin and Hailey — who welcomed son Jack in August 2024 — have been plagued by rumours of marital trouble amid recent concerns about the Grammy winner’s behaviour.
