Dr Chris Brown calls out Seven’s ‘stupid’ decision ahead of TV Week Logie Awards

The well-known veterinarian is still wondering why the network wants him to co-host the red carpet with seasoned star Sonia Kruger.

Beloved TV and media personality Dr Chris Brown has playfully called out Seven’s “stupid” decision to make him co-host of this year’s TV Week Logies red carpet.

The well-known veterinarian and Bondi Vet star is still scratching his head as to why his new network enlisted him to present on the red carpet alongside Sonia Kruger at the star-studded event on July 30.

“Can I just tell you, it is one of the more stupid decisions ever made by Channel 7 to put me on the Red Carpet,” Brown said with a laugh during his regular guest appearance on Triple M’s Mick & MG in the Morning today.

“I know nothing about fashion... and I am also colourblind.”

Brown, 44, wondered how he’d fare when commenting on the stars’ gowns given his colour blindness.

“The joy that I’m going to have in telling women that I love their green dress and (I’m) gonna be told it’s red... what could possibly go wrong?” he told hosts Mick Molloy and Mark ‘MG’ Geyer. “The insulting nature of my commentary is going to be worth it.”

Molloy then joked that he was “going to make the carpet green” just for extra laughs.

Brown and Kruger will bring viewers all the live action from the Logies red carpet at Sydney’s The Star on Sunday, July 30.

The awards show is finally returning to the Harbour City after being held interstate for more than 30 years.

The ceremony was held on the Gold Coast from 2018 to 2022, and prior to that it was held in Melbourne since 1987.

“I’d like to thank the Seven Network for this early Christmas present,” Kruger – who is up for the prized Gold Logie – said in a press release announcing their hosting stint.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Chris Brown on the amuse-bouche to the main event, the main course if you will, with the very tasty Sam Pang,” she added, referring to this year’s Logies host.

“Chris has such great, natural charisma and a brilliant sense of humour. With my brains and Chris’ beauty, this red-carpet show is going to be fresh, fun, unpredictable and bigger than ever.”

Brown said he was equally excited although he can’t promise he can level up to Kruger.

“So while it may be a duty of care situation that they’ve paired her with a vet, I genuinely can’t wait to work with her on the red carpet show,” he said.

“There’s a real excitement around the Logies being unpredictable this year. And nothing says unpredictable like putting a colour blind guy like me on the red carpet.”

This will be Brown’s first official role at Seven since he jumped ship from Network Ten, where he had worked for the last 15 years.

He formally made the move in April after wrapping his hosting duties on his final season of Ten’s I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!

Brown – who is believed to have been poached for a two-year contract reportedly worth more than $1 million a year – also has two brand new shows with Seven, slated for release next year.

The first is an as-yet-untitled adventure series, on which he will report from some of the most breathtaking regions on the planet, all in pursuit of the ultimate animal encounter.

He will also front the upcoming new series, Dream Home, an inspiring renovation competition program.
