‘Unmissable’ beauty salon opens under city nightclub

From a loyal customer to a successful business owner, Toowoomba’s Biannca Hill has a love for the beauty industry unmatched by most.

Just seven years ago, Miss Hill began training to become a beautician and this year she has fulfilled the dream of opening up her own beauty salon right in the heart of the city, called Bling it On Beauty Bar.

Miss Hill said she was always someone who frequented beauty salons, which gave her an appreciation for the industry.

But she always knew she wanted to do something a little different.

After working as store managers for other, larger beauty companies in Toowoomba she made the brave decision to open her own salon – and it’s unlike any other.

Inspired by the design of the UK’s beauty salons, Miss Hill has created an unmissable salon, describing it as a “mystical wonderland”.

“I wanted to be different,” she said.

“I spent the last six years of my life being a store manager and I found that you can’t be unique and stand out when you’re working under someone else.

“You really need to be brave enough to stand there in front of everyone, quite naked, and be like ‘hey, I’m here, let’s do this, invest in me’.

“You’re always overtaken by that aura that you’re just a number.

“I was really passionate about opening up my own businesses and begin a brand that’s unique, where you can come in and be yourself.”

The salon launched on February 27 after four and a half months of renovations, and boasts an extensive line-up of services including eyelash extensions and basic brow services.

Along with growing her business, Miss Hill will also be dedicating her career to helping other beauticians and therapists kickstart their own careers in the industry.

Miss Hill is working with a training beautician, helping her start her own brand by training her up, and realise her own potential.

“I like training people and developing people,” Miss Hill said.

“She’ll be training with me so I can get her to a level that I feel she will be able to start her own business.

“It’ll definitely be a salon where people come in, they do a trial run on their own accord but I help them grow that business.

“If you bring someone through your doors, you set them up to succeed, you show them, this is the income you have the potential of earning this is the role you can have in your career.

“I’ll help you get your business started but coming into a business I’ve built to help them get established.”
