The Rossington family’s incredible First Nations creations are steeped in their connection to country and their people — and now they are sharing it with the rest of the city.
Red Sand Sisters has opened its first permanent store in the Toowoomba CBD, showcasing a huge assortment of jewellery, accessories, clothing and even native bush foods.
The project was spearheaded by sisters and proud Kamilaroi Kooma women Lisa-May and Natasha Rossington, while their mother Morya is the “face of the shop” and also makes a selection of petrified wood jewellery.
“It’s been a journey to get there, we’ve been through the ups and downs, so it’s really exciting to be open,” Lisa-May said.
“With the Carnival of Flowers coming up and tourists flying into Wellcamp, we thought it would be a good opportunity for them to find us.”
The shop is located on Margaret Street, just up from the intersection with Ruthven Street.
