By the age of 30, Sharné Lategan was a director of a law firm, had the house and car of her dreams, had two beautiful children and a husband.
On paper it was picture perfect, yet, she felt exhausted, empty and numb.
Now at the age of 35 she is more fulfilled and happier than ever, and has made it her mission to help others achieve the same.
Ms Lategan moved to Toowoomba at 13 after spending her formative years in South Africa. She then moved to the Gold Coast to study law at Griffith University, and years of hard work led her to be the director of a Toowoomba law firm.
Ms Lategan said she had a drive to tick all the boxes of what success would look like, but realised it was not making her happy.
“I worked really hard to get the career, get the business, and get the house, and get the car, and have the family but nothing was really fulfilling,” Ms Lategan said.
“I remember one night coming home and sitting by the fireplace, with all those things perfectly in place and working well, and going how the f*ck am I so sad?”
This terrifying reality sparked a long period of growth for Ms Lategan, which paved the way for her new professional life as a mindset consultant.
Ms Lategan said the journey started with a lengthy period of research and inward reflection.
“I spent a lot of months in research books … and researched all the psychology, all the science, all the neuroscience, everything around childhood, childhood development, first years in life,” Ms Lategan said.
“Then I found a mindset coach who just rapidly moved me through, and introduced me to the power of the subconscious mind.”
“From there on it was a year and a half of personal work that I did … and my entire life changed.”
From there she became passionate about empowering people to grow through any challenge or change and created Sharné Consulting, a mindset coaching business.
One of Sharné Consulting’s upcoming events is the Grow and Expand: Women in Business Breakfast series.
Ms Lategan said the series aims to help women in the corporate world realise their potential and celebrate their successes.
“I want to foster and create an environment where women can come together and celebrate each other and celebrate all their achievements,” said Ms Lategan.
The series kicks off with the first event on Friday, February 2, with guest speaker, Alisha Weston.
