Just Cuts Grand Central hairdresser awarded well-deserved Australian Stylist of the Year award

A Toowoomba hairdresser has been for her trendy styles and fabulous cuts, taking out a major national award.

When clients are in need of a trim, having a downright hair crisis, and even just keen for a chat, they know they can turn to Chiaki Mori.

A seasoned stylist at Just Cuts in Grand Central shopping centre, Ms Mori knows her stuff, is highly knowledgeable on the hottest hair trends, and the most flattering styles.

After 10 years working for Just Cuts and 20 overall as a hairdresser, Ms Mori has won the acclaimed Australian of the Year prize at the Just Cuts conference in Gold Coast.

Competing against 2500 stylists across Australia, Ms Mori was the clear standout for the prize, demonstrating unmatched expertise and talent, and an ability to connect and personalise the experience for every client.

Ms Mori said she didn’t know she was in the running for the prize but was so happy when she found out, receiving the news over the phone after a busy Thursday late-night shift.

“I’m proud to be putting Toowoomba on the map. We have the experience, knowledge and creativity to create the same styles here as you see in the capital cities,” Ms Mori said.

“As a hairdresser, you are continuously learning the latest styles, and trends, and learning new techniques.

“It is really nice to be recognised and to know that I am doing a good job. I am so appreciative that my work was awarded.”

Ms Mori moved to Toowoomba a decade ago from Tokyo and was given a job within 24 hours of moving to her new town.

“Without my customers, I wouldn’t be here at my job … I love every part of it and I am very fortunate to earn money doing something that I am passionate about,” Ms Mori said.

“My favourite part of my job is hearing the feedback and seeing that my clients are happy.

“I want to thank my customers from the bottom of my heart, and I am so happy to share the good news with them. They are like my family.”
