From heavy machinery and tools to agriculture and water, there was something for everyone at FarmFest 2025.
The advanced technology that goes into farming was on full display, as thousands of guests consulted with the experts on the first day of this iconic Toowoomba region event.
One of these ag experts was Barenbrug’s Head of Agronomy Services for northern Australia Marty Conroy, who said the event was great for learning more about the advancements in farming.
“Events like these are very good in terms of being able to get out and talk to a multitude of companies and people who are experts in their field,” he said.
“Whether it be pasture seed companies, agronomists, new trends in fencing or ag tech all merged into one spot, you can make a day of it, get a lot of information and make some informed decisions.
“These days have turned more into information gathering rather than what deals can I get, it’s really good because not many guys have the ability to get off their farms so pencilling it into the calendar, getting here and making conversation is great.”
Mr Conroy said he had spoken to dozens of guests wanting to seek agricultural advice and learn more about seed varieties.
“We are a pasture seed company so we develop and bring to market new varieties from cereals, oats, barley, rye grass and tropical grasses,” he said.
“It’s about 12 years of work to bring a new variety to market, it is a lot of work, lot of time and lot of money but at the end of the day it's trying to deliver something that will work in a multitude of environments across Australia.
“We are scattered through a number of sites coupled with a few resellers today and we are showcasing our varieties.
“Pasture improvement is a lengthy process and often we get guys see us at these field days, get a lot of information and then they come to us when they are ready to sow and want the right species.”
