Darling Downs accounting firm Carrick Aland has taken out one of the top prizes at the Australian Accounting Awards in Sydney last weekend, claiming the title of Boutique Firm of the Year (20+ Employees).

This is the latest national award win and comes after they were named Australia’s Multiservice Firm of the Year in 2020 and SMSF Firm of the Year (Intuitive Super) in 2019.

“To record a third straight win at the Australian Accounting Awards is fantastic recognition of the client-focused results we deliver and one very few other accounting and financial services firms in Australia have been able to achieve,” Carrick Aland director Greg Burton said.

“We are incredibly proud of the efforts of our whole team who are committed to delivering a unique client experience.

“Our amazing people who genuinely enjoy strong, longstanding working relationships with our wonderful clients are the key reason we have been in business since 1953.”

While Covid-19 restrictions imposed the day before prevented Carrick Aland personnel attending the awards ceremony in Sydney in person, associate Daniel Bartkowski did accept the award via live stream in Dalby.

“We are excited to win this award as a regional accounting firm operating outside the major business hubs, still able to secure great staff and such a broad range of clients from the farming sector to mining services, to the retail industry and trade services which is a great reflection of the strengths of our local communities,” Mr Bartkowski said.

The 2021 Australian Accounting Awards recognise excellence across the entire accounting industry, and showcases the individuals and firms which are leading the way in the industry. This year, a record 621 award submissions were received across 19 individual and 15 group categories, with 300 shortlisted as finalists, and 34 deemed as winners.

AccountantsDaily editor Jotham Lian said the awards play an important role in recognising the hard work and dedication shown by the accounting profession in a trying year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The sheer tenacity and resilience shown by practitioners across the country over the past year has been nothing short of amazing and it makes me so proud to advocate on behalf of the profession,” he said.
