Australian clothing brand LSKD to open Toowoomba store at Grand Central Shopping Centre

A $100m Australian clothing brand that caused lines stretching for hundreds of metres at its most recent Queensland shop launch has revealed plans to open a Toowoomba store within months.

A $100m Australian sportswear and street clothing retailer that caused enormous lines at the opening of its latest Queensland store has announced it is coming to Toowoomba.

LSKD (an abbreviation of Loose Kid) has revealed it will open in Grand Central Shopping Centre on June 22, informing members via email last week of its plans.

It is anticipated the store will employ up to a dozen people when it opens.

It comes a day after the company’s launch of its Sunshine Plaza shop at Maroochydoore caused chaos on Saturday, with hundreds of people lining up for hours to check out its stocks.

Established in 2007, LSKD was worth $80m as of 2023 and has become a trendy up-market clothing line that is worn by celebrities like Zac Efron and Emily Ratajkowski.

The company is tipped to be worth $100m this year with the new store openings.

A spokeswoman for LSKD confirmed the opening date for its 12th Australian store, saying Toowoomba was a “great fit”.

“We want to open hyper local stores where we have great community demand to support our big community advocates,” she said.

“We already have a large community around the Toowoomba region, so saw this region as a great fit.

“Jason (Daniel, company founder) also mentioned he used to race a lot of motocross in Toowoomba back in the day and absolutely loved the community there.”

LSKD is reportedly looking for staff including team leaders to fill its roster ahead of the June launch.

Max Brenner shuts doors at Grand Central

The LSKD announcement coincides with the loss of another national brand in Grand Central, after chocolate restaurant Max Brenner closed over the weekend.

A sign in the window thanked customers for their support dating back to 2018 when the eatery reopened at Grand Central after initially launching in 2017.

However, the message indicated the shop might be simply relocating.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Max Brenner Toowoomba on April 1,” the sign said.

“Our amazing staff, who have put their heart and soul into creating chocolatey delights for you, are truly devastated.

“We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your unwavering support and love throughout the years.

“This is not the end of our chocolate journey – stay tuned for more delicious surprises.”

Max Brenner has five other locations in Queensland.
