Hundreds have lined up clutching old pairs of tights outside the newest “kid” on the Sunshine Plaza block, a streetwear store with a cult-like following from young and old.
The Australian streetwear store, LSKD (Loose Kid), was offering a “tight swap” to shoppers who were able to bring in an old pair of tights and swap them for a brand new pair.
It was marketing genius that attracted hundreds, with some rumoured to have lined up outside the Maroochydore shopping centre from 5am for an opening time of 8.30am.
Shopper Lee-Ann Hendry said her tribe had lined up since 7.30am for a peek inside the new store.
“We usually shop online but this is exciting,” she said.
“We thought we were early.”
The line stretched hundreds of metres, from the entrance to LSKD to the counter for the ropes course outside the Sunshine Plaza.
Fellow shopper Laura Summerhayes said she liked the clothing because the activewear was comfortable and it had size inclusivity.
“I’m pretty excited, I don’t have to wait for shipping or the post anymore,” she said.
Ms Summerhayes said she was looking forward to trying on different styles of clothing she did not normally buy to see if it suited her.
