Support development of city garden with rose bouquets

Show your loved one how much they mean to you with a rose arrangement from Newtown Park. Not only are they the perfect Valentine’s Day gift, you can also support the garden.

A rose for all

February is the month of love and to celebrate volunteers are putting together stunning rose floral arrangements for Valentine’s Day.

Each year at the Queensland State Rose Garden in Newton Park, residents can get their hands on beautiful rose arrangements.

This year the Toowoomba Floral Art Group will be creating rose bouquets, and there will also be single roses and potted roses for sale.

Queensland State Rose Garden president Sandy Martin said it was their biggest fundraiser of the year.

“It’s our major yearly fundraiser and everything we make goes back into the development of the rose garden,” she said.

“Last year we sold out which was great, so people will have to get in early if they want to buy an arrangement for a loved one.

“I think flowers are always a lovely gift and roses are a symbol of love so they’re perfect for Valentine’s Day.

“We have quite a wide range of people buying roses each year. People buy them for their partner, or kids come in and buy some for their mum, we even had some kids buy some for their teachers.”

Roses will be available at the Rose Cottage on Saturday, February 13 from 9am to 6pm and Sunday, February 14 from 7am until sold out.

Roses used in the arrangements are not taken from the garden.
