Drilling at Western Queen has delivered standout gold and tungsten grades
Rumble Resources targeting maiden tungsten mineral resource estimate in Q3
High-grade tungsten at the Mid-West WA project could significantly boost gold project’s economics
Special report: Rumble Resources has intersected more high-grade gold and critical mineral tungsten in its drilling at the near-term Western Queen Project.
Diamond drilling at Western Queen South has extended the gold mineralisation down plunge.
The program has also intersected further high-grade tungsten skarn mineralisation at both Western Queen South and Princess, opening opportunities to enhance the project’s future revenues.
Top gold hits from Rumble’s (ASX:RTR)’s latest program include 6.93m at 4.10 grams per tonne from 362m, 0.3m at 32.38g/t from 300.3m and 1m at 6.20g/t Au from 313m. The high-grade gold mineralisation remains open at depth
Among the tungsten assays were 24.6m at 0.62% tungsten trioxide (WO3) from 292.5m, including 0.4m at 10.53% WO3 from 292.5m.
Critical potential
The high-grade tungsten mineralisation at Western Queen remains open in all directions. To explore this potential, Rumble will plan drilling in the many open positions, with initial focus up dip in the shallow open pit positions.
Tungsten prices have been on an upward trajectory since China imposed export controls on the key military metal.
Rumble’s grades have been standouts, with tungsten mine grades globally sitting between 0.2% and 0.3%.
In addition to recent exploration, historical diamond core sampling for tungsten has been completed and assays are expected during June.
Rumble remains on track to complete a maiden tungsten mineral resource estimate during the September quarter.
Managing director and CEO Peter Harold said: “It’s great to see some more good results from the last drilling program at Western Queen, especially the tungsten numbers. The gold hits are positive too.
“We are delighted with the way the tungsten is shaping up.
“Early indications are that the tungsten could add significant revenue when mined in conjunction with the Western Queen South gold open pit resource. We are very much looking forward to releasing the maiden tungsten resource and the metallurgical testwork results.”
Significant tungsten revenue in view
Indications of the strong revenue potential from tungsten have been demonstrated by preliminary metallurgical testwork on tungsten bearing material from Western Queen.
To verify this, Rumble is now preparing a bulk sample of the tungsten bearing (scheelite) material for further metallurgical testing by independent specialists Mineral Technologies.
This will determine the size of the tungsten revenue stream and whether it can be generated alongside mining the Western Queen South gold deposit, due to start this year.
Rumble will additionally interpret the encouraging gold results for Phase 1 reverse circulation and Phase 2 diamond drilling programs, with a view to opportunities for extending mineralisation and planning future drilling as warranted.
The company is also planning a regional drilling program along strike of the interpreted Western Queen Shear Zone.
Meanwhile the company is in the process of completing open pit and underground mining studies, with a target to mine first ore by the end of 2025.
