Assays from soil sampling have potentially extended the Sunnyside gold system by 1.6km
The total potential length of the strike is now ~2km
Additional soil sampling is being planned to close off the gold soil anomaly within the granite host rock
Special report: Surface geochemical sampling at Koonenberry Gold’s Enmore gold project in northeast NSW has grown the Sunnyside gold system to a potential strike length of ~2km, with much of the trend yet to be drill tested.
Soil and rock chip assays highlight the opportunity for extensions to the gold mineralisation encountered in recent drilling along the sediment contact at Sunnyside.
The anomaly now stretches another 1.6km to the ENE of Sunnyside, with limited previous drilling over the newly defined zone.
A maximum of 17.55g/t gold in rock chips and 1580ppm gold in soils has been returned to the east-northeast of Sunnyside, which compares to a maximum of 18.1g/t gold in historical rick chips and 476ppb gold in new soils over the Sunnyside prospect.
‘Exciting development’
Koonenberry (ASX:KNB) managing director Dan Power said the results indicated that the Sunnyside gold system had the potential to extend for an additional 1.6km to the east along the Sunnyside Shear Zone.
“Significantly, the high-grade rock chips are hosted by the granite ~1.25km from where we have intersected significant mineralisation in drill holes at Sunnyside,” he said.
“The samples show very similar geological characteristics to the gold mineralisation at Sunnyside including alteration, veining/brecciation and sulphides.
“This is an exciting development and highlights the scale of the system to be over 2km in potential strike length which remains largely untested by drilling.”
What’s happening next?
KNB has completed its maiden diamond drill program at Enmore and this has intersected extensive intervals of gold mineralisation from surface as well as high-grade gold intervals at depth.
Results for holes 25ENDD007, 008, 009 and 010 remain pending and are expected in Q3 2025.
The results are being used to design a +10,000m follow-up program to test the continuity and extensions to mineralisation at Sunnyside in multiple directions, including along the Sunnyside Shear Zone.
Further soil sampling will be conducted along this zone as well as at other highly prospective targets within the district with results used to plan additional drilling.
