That's all from the Trading Day blog for Thursday, June 19. The ASX 200 index slipped marginally to a two-week low close of 8523.7 points on mining sector falls, albeit mostly offset by strong gains in banks with CBA up to a fresh record high.
Ahead of its Juneteenth holiday on Thursday (Friday AEST), Wall Street's major indexes - S&P 500, Dow Jones and the technology-focused Nasdaq - all closed flat.
The global benchmark Brent crude is near $US76 per barrel and the US WTI is around $US73 per barrel.
Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin is below $US105,000.
The Aussie dollar is trading around US64.75c.
