Hallmark Group announced last month it had bought the popular water hole from the Coorey family, and has since started work on a $1.5 million revamp.

Group director Scott Hempel said he had been pleased by residents’ reactions to renders of the new design, which includes a large interior reshuffle and a new paint job on the outside.

“Everyone has been really positive right across the board and everyone is quite excited to see the iconic pub back in full flight,” he said.

“We’re still looking at late October or early November for opening.

“Because we’re painting the entire building, that will be the most notable aspect from the outside for people to see.”

The major fit-out will be done by What’s On Projects, while the painting is being completed by Enterprizing Paint Solutions.

Mr Hempel said much of the new interior elements, like seating booths, were being built offsite and would be brought in to be installed.
