Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Monday, June 16. The ASX 200 index closed flat, up marginally to 8548.40 points.

On Friday, Wall Street closed deep in the red with the S&P 500 down 1 per cent and the Dow Jones shedding nearly 2 per cent. The technology-focused Nasdaq fell 1.3 per cent.

Cryptocurrency giant bitcoin was trading above $US106,600 at 5pm AEST.

The Aussie dollar was trading around US65.07c.
