Welcome to the Trading Day blog for Friday, March 15. The ASX 200 index closed down 0.6 per cent to 7670.30 points, with the banks helping the bourse recover from a 1.6 per cent dive earlier in the day.

The Aussie dollar is trading around US65.66c.
