Single car park in Mosman listed for shocking price

An “extraordinary” stand-alone carpark in an exclusive inner city suburb is expected to sell for an eye-watering price.

Interest rate hike strains property market

Sydney’s property market chaos has reached a new height with a single carspot in Mosman now listed for $150,000.

The “rare” listing sold by R&W features a 17-square metre car space and a storage cage and is described as a “once in a blue moon opportunity” by real estate agent Robert Simeon.

The spot was “subdivided from the lot and separated from the title”, according to Mr Simeon, allowing it to be sold by itself.

“Extraordinarily, this spot can be sold to anyone including those outside of the block,” he said.

The 6.42m x 2.75m property sits on 17spm of land, putting a $8,500 price tag on each square metre.

There are already five people interested in the property, including those who live in the building and from outsiders, Mr Simeon told NCA NewsWire.

“We’re expecting a fair bit of inquiry over the weekend during inspections,” he said.

Despite the hefty $150,000 price tag, Mr Simeon said that the car spot was a “good deal”.

“We’ll get the $150,000, that’s for sure,”

“[Whether we’ll get more] depends on how many people are interested in it, we’ve only just started so we will see what people think.”

The investment is a good opportunity for those who can afford it, the real estate agent said.

“If you take your typical family, they’ve got a double garage and the wife has a car and the husband has a car, but what we’re seeing more frequently is people buying weekend cars.

“You don’t buy a weekend car if you’re going to put it on the street.”

Mr Simeon, who has been in real estate for over three decades, said the property was “unique” among those he’s sold.

“I’m selling it as something to tick off on the bucket list, you don’t come across them very often.”

The security carpark is located in Bridlewood Gardens near the Spit Junction.
