A second child has died almost two weeks after a horror crash in southeast Queensland that also claimed the lives of his mother and sister.

The eight-year-old boy had his life support switched off on Tuesday, following the incident on the Gore Highway near Toowoomba on July 22.

The family was travelling in a Toyota SUV that collided with a truck just after 7am, killing 35-year-old Lotsy and six-year-old Catelyn.

Her 39-year-old husband Bipin, who was driving, and their two young sons Chris and Caiden were all seriously injured and were rushed to hospitals in Brisbane.

Sadly, Chris succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.

A relative, Martin Mathew, set up a fundraiser to cover the costs of Lotsy and Catelyn’s funerals, which raised a huge $487,250 before it was closed to new donations.

On Tuesday, Mr Mathew posted on the GoFundMe page with the news of Chris’s death.

“Dear all, with deepest condolences I pass this information to you all that, Bipin’s and Lotsy’s eldest son Chris (8 years) has also passed away this morning 04:59 AM,” he wrote.

“Chris was critically injured and on life support at Queensland Children’s Hospital.”

Queensland Police confirmed the fresh tragedy in a statement, saying a forensic crash unit investigation was continuing into the incident.
