A man has been rushed to hospital with stab wounds as police investigate why a group of people started fighting in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Two men have been rushed to hospital, with one suffering stab wounds to his back, following an alleged fight between a group of people in Brisbane.

Emergency crews were called to Russell St in Brisbane’s West End after reports of an altercation between a group of people and the occupants of a vehicle about 2am on Sunday.

Upon arrival, police found one man with serious stab wounds to his back.

He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

A second man sustained an injury to his head and to his arm.

He was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for further treatment.

Police have since established a crime scene at Russell St and investigations are ongoing into what caused the fight.

Anyone with CCTV or other vision of the area at the time which may assist is asked to contact police.
