NSW has recorded 5582 Covid cases, Victoria 4867, while Queensland has 4265 new infections on Sunday.

The figures are a drop for all three states after NSW had 7615 infections on Saturday, Victoria 6280 and Queensland 4919.

Twenty one people died with the virus in NSW while there are 1280 people in hospital with Covid, including 77 in intensive care.

Nine more people died in Victoria while there were 358 in hospital. Of those, 51 were in ICU.

Two people have died in Queensland, one of whom an aged care resident and neither of whom were vaccinated.

Queensland’s chief health officer John Gerard said it was reassuring that case numbers were on the decline, and that there had not been a significant increase in cases in school-aged children.
