Kamala Harris will be joined by Beyoncé at her rally in Houston on Saturday (AEDT), as Barack Obama joins the Vice President on stage for the first time in her campaign in Georgia on Friday (AEDT).

Megastar Beyonce, a Houston native, has a massive following, especially among Black voters and younger voters. Her Instagram account has some 314 million followers.

The event is expected to be focused on abortion rights. Ms Harris has been using Beyoncé’s song “Freedom” at campaign rallies and commercials. Beyoncé has a history of backing Democrats, endorsing President Biden in 2020 and Hillary Clinton in 2016.

In August, online rumours swirled that Beyoncé would show up on the last night of the Democratic National Convention as Ms Harris accepted the nomination. It didn’t happen. But several DNC attendees were wearing cowboy hats and sashes that said “Cowboy Kamala,” a reference to the star’s recent country-themed album “Cowboy Carter.”

Another cultural powerhouse, Taylor Swift, endorsed Ms Harris in a September Instagram post to her 283 million followers shortly after a debate between Harris and former president Donald Trump, the Republican nominee. That post sent more than 405,000 people to a government website with information on how to register to vote.

Meanwhile Donald Trump is continuing his podcast blitz with an appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience.” The interview will take place on Saturday (AEDT) at Rogan’s studio in Austin, Texas, but it isn’t clear when the episode will be released to the public. Rogan, who has more than 14 million followers on the streaming platform Spotify, is one of the industry’s most popular hosts.

Mr Trump’s interview will mark his second podcast appearance in as many days. On Thursday, he called into a conservative talk show podcast and said he would “fire” special counsel Jack Smith. Both parties see the platform as useful to attract younger voters. Many of the podcasts that Mr Trump has appeared on, including “Full Send” and “This Past Weekend w/ Theo Vaughn,” are geared toward a young male audience.

Recent Wall Street Journal surveys suggest that young men, a group where Trump has an advantage, may be less enthusiastic about voting.
