Kamala Harris’s running mate Tim Walz has blasted Elon Musk as a ‘dip shit’ before former president Barack Obama took to the stage to rev up the Democratic Party faithful at a rally in Wisconsin, two weeks before election day amid a knife edge race.

The Democratic vice presidential candidate, campaigning in the critical blue wall state, mocked the world’s richest man, Musk, for “jumping around, skipping like a dipshit”, referring to the influential Republican supporter’s jubilant appearance alongside Donald Trump at a Republican rally earlier this month.

On social media Musk, who has given significant sums to and ramped up his rhetorical support for Trump, later replied to Mr Walz: “You’re gonna lose, saving the American people from the torture of hearing you speak for four years was worth it”.

Democrats wheeled out the biggest of Democrat big guns at the Madison, Wisconsin rally on Tuesday (Wednesday AEDT); the popular former president Obama addressed a crowd of thousands for over 45 minutes, cracking jokes and blasting Donald Trump’s competence and character.

“Do you think Donald Trump’s ever changed a tyre in his life? ‘Jeeves change that tyre’,” he quipped as the crowd roared with laughter, as he went on to mock the former Republican president for speaking like “Fidel Castro” – i.e. giving tedious rambling speeches.

President Trump's wildest political antics revealed

Invoking his trademark soaring rhetoric, Mr Obama, who has joined Ms Harris and Mr Walz on the campaign trail for a series of events in the final two weeks, regaled the crowd for almost 40 minutes, in a critical swing state where early voting began on the same day.

“So Wisconsin, we do not need to see what an older, loonier Donald Trump looks like with no guard rails. America is ready to turn the page,” he declared, making fun of Mr Trump’s controversial decision to play music for 39 minutes at one of his rallies last week.

“There is absolutely no evidence that this man thinks about anybody but himself. Donald Trump is a 78 year old builder who hasn’t stopped whining about his problems since he came down that golden escalator nine years ago”.

The rally came amid an ever closer presidential race according to main stream polls, which give Kamala Harris a slight national edge over Mr Trump, although the two are practically tied in the critical swing states, including Wisconsin, that both campaign are seeking to clinch come November 5.

Over 15 million Americans have already voted across the nation, easily surpassing previous records, as both campaign seek to encourage their supporters to vote as soon as possible. “Don’t boo, vote,” Mr Obama said, repeating one of his campaign lines that underscores the importance of turnout to both campaigns.

The rally Walz-Obama rally came amid a busy day of campaigning and media for the two presidential candidates: Trump held a town-hall meeting with Latino leaders in Miami earlier in the day, trying to shore up support among Hispanics, and will alter appear at a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Vice President Harris recorded an interview with NBC and Telemundo, part of a wave of interviews in the last week.
