You’re fat and washed up, Amber Heard told Johnny Depp

Amber Heard screamed that Johnny Depp was ‘fat’ and ‘washed up’ before physically ­attacking him and throwing away her wedding ring, a British court hears.

Amber Heard screamed that Johnny Depp was ‘fat’ and “washed up” before physically ­attacking him and throwing away her wedding ring, the British High Court has been told.

The manager of Depp’s private island said the Pirates of the ­Caribbean actor became withdrawn after his marriage to Heard in February 2015 and she had seen him being attacked by his wife.

Depp is suing Dan Wootton, the executive editor of The Sun, and the newspaper’s publisher over an article in 2018 that called him a “wife beater”.

The Sun ­relies on 14 alleged incidents of domestic violence, all of which Depp denies.

Tara Roberts, who runs Little Halls Pond Cay in the Bahamas, said she intervened after overhearing Depp, 57, and Heard, 34, argue when they stayed at the ­island over Christmas 2015.

“She was insulting him, calling him names, and in the middle of this onslaught I heard her say specifically ‘Your career is over’, ‘No one is going to hire you’, ‘You’re washed up’, ‘fat’, ‘You will die a lonely man’, and also screaming things that were incomprehensible,” she told the court.

“I saw Amber lunge at Johnny, clawing, tugging and aggressively pulling him. He continued to stand there yelling at her to stop and leave him alone.

“Throughout their relationship and marriage, there was a distinct change in Johnny, and the once social and animated person spent most days sleeping, became withdrawn, our meals together dwindled to non-­existent.”

Malcolm Connolly, Depp’s ­security guard, told the court of a “ruckus” when he arrived at the house in Australia where the couple was staying while Depp was filming the fifth Pirates of the ­Caribbean instalment in March 2015. “He and Amber were screaming at each other,” Mr Connolly said. “When we were outside, Johnny said to me words to the ­effect of ‘Look at my finger. She’s cut my f..king finger off. She’s smashed my hand with a vodka bottle’.

“Amber appeared at the door and then came close to the car, screaming and crying, calling out words along the lines of ‘Are you just going to leave it like this, you f..king coward?’ ”

Depp later sent a message to his doctor, David Kipper, claiming he had cut off his own finger, the court heard. The actor wrote: “I’m done, no more. The constant insults, the demeaning, belittling, most heartbreaking spew that is only released from a malicious, evil and vindictive c..t. I am so very sad. I cut the top of my finger off.”
