Kamala Harris has hit back at claims she is frustrated at being sidelined by President Joe Biden amid reports that Democratic rivals plan to challenge her for the party’s presidential nomination.
With her approval ratings plummeting, the Vice-President spoke on Thursday to ABC’s Good Morning America, defending her performance.
“You don’t feel misused or underused?” George Stephanopoulos, the presenter, asked her, following reports that M Biden’s office had grown frustrated with Ms Harris and her staff, while the Vice-President was growing angry that her marginalised political role could thwart her ambitions for the top job.
“No I don’t,” Ms Harris said. “I’m very, very excited about the work that we have accomplished. This was a good week, and this week, when we got this Bipartisan Infrastructure Act passed, makes a statement about all of the hard work that has gone into it. We’re getting things done, and we’re doing it together.”
The 57-year-old has been saddled with two onerous portfolios – passing voting rights reform and dealing with the migration crisis along the southern border.
