Elon Musk ‘had key to Amber Heard’s penthouse’

Billionaire made regular night-time visits to Amber Heard’s house within weeks of her marriage to Johnny Depp, court hears.

Amber Heard gave the billionaire Elon Musk a key to her penthouse within weeks of her marriage to Johnny Depp, the High Court was told.

Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, was also allegedly given easy access to Heard’s underground garage during his regular night-time visits while her husband was away.

Depp, 57, is suing Dan Wootton, the executive editor of The Sun, and the publisher of the newspaper over an article in 2018 that described him as a “wife beater”.

The couple were married in February 2015 and the following month the tip of Mr Depp’s finger was severed in an alleged violent row with Heard, 34, while he was filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge.

Alejandro Romero, a concierge at the Eastern Columbia Building in Los Angeles where Depp owned five penthouses, told the High Court: “I do remember when Johnny Depp injured his hand, that was the first time I saw Mr Musk going into the building.”

Mr Romero added: “Ms Heard was visited regularly late at night, at around 11pm to midnight, by Mr Elon Musk.

“For his initial visits, I would receive a call from Ms Heard, who would tell me to give Mr Musk access to the garage for the building and then send him up to the penthouse. After he had made a few visits, Ms Heard provided Mr Musk with his own garage remote and a [key] fob to Mr Depp’s penthouse.

“I believe he visited Ms Heard a few times a week and he would always visit when Mr Depp was not at home.”

Mr Musk, 49, issued a statement last month denying an adulterous love triangle with Heard and the British supermodel Cara Delevingne, 27. He said he had “never been intimate” with Delevingne and only began dating Heard, a star of Aquaman, a superhero film, when her marriage was over.

Isaac Baruch, who lived in a penthouse next to Depp and Heard, accused her of having “filed for a fraudulent domestic violence claim to push her hand and extort and blackmail him”.

Mr Baruch, who has known Depp for 40 years, said the actor visited him soon after his wedding and “seemed down and a bit distraught, like if he was crying”. He claimed Depp told him she “likes to argue about stuff all the time and then she’ll start hitting me”.

Heard lost the support of a leading figure in the MeToo movement, who felt “misled” after learning that Heard was allegedly violent to Depp during their marriage, the court was told.

Amanda de Cadenet, the British television presenter and a prominent activist, withdrew an agreement to support Heard in libel cases bought by Depp.

Ms de Cadenet, 48, said she had originally agreed to give evidence in support of Heard but now believes that she had been “used and misled” into thinking that Heard was the victim instead of the perpetrator of the violence.

In a declaration for a separate US libel case, Ms de Cadenet said that listening to recordings of conversations between Heard and Depp had “changed my perspective on this matter”.

In the recordings Heard is said to have admitted “clocking” her husband and pelting him with pots, pans and vases. Ms de Cadenet said “When the first audio tape was released, and I heard Amber being verbally abusive to Johnny, I was horrified. I had hoped Amber would take accountability for her behaviour but she did not.”

The Sun relies on 14 alleged incidents of domestic violence, all of which are denied by Depp. The case continues.
