CEO caught on Coldplay kisscam resigns over scandal
Announcing its move in response to the viral incident that has intrigued millions, AI company Astronomer said it would share more details in coming days.
The American CEO whose alleged affair was exposed on a jumbotron at a Coldplay concert has resigned after being placed on leave by his own company.
“As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,” the company said in a statement Saturday.
“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted.”
Astronomer placed Mr Byron on leave after the married executive was filmed embracing the company’s head of HR Kristin Cabot at the Boston gig, with the pair going viral for jumping out of frame upon realising their act had been broadcast on the stadium’s big screen.
The awkward moment lead Coldplay front man Chris Martin to quip that the pair “were either having an affair or are very shy”.
In an initial statement released by the group on social media platform X, Astronomer confirmed its board of directors “has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly”.

The statement also confirmed that Alyssa Stoddard, a third employee wrongly identified by internet sleuths as the stunned woman filmed standing next to the pair, was not in attendance at the concert.
By Saturday afternoon, the group had released a second statement announcing Mr Byron had been placed on leave pending the investigations outcome.
“Co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy is currently serving as interim CEO given Andy Byron has been placed on leave,” it said.
“We will share more details as appropriate in the coming days.”

Mr Byron’s wife deleted her Facebook page after her decision to remove her married name from its username lead thousands to flood her comments.
It’s unclear what the investigation will seek to establish or what consequences Mr Byron or Ms Cabot will face, but the company said it was “committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding”.
