WHAT IS IT? The latest offering from LA wellness juggernaut Therabody. It’s a device that promotes “facial wellness”!

FACIAL WELLNESS? Well, the firm has already brought us the Theragun (a body massage gun), the RecoveryAir (a $1300 leg-squeezer) and the Wave vibrating foamroller; now it’s expanding its range of kooky“wellness solutions” to include your noggin.

HOW DOES IT WORK? The mask, which straps onto your face, is equipped with 648 LEDs that deliver light therapy via three types of light (red, red + infrared, and blue); it also has 17 tiny motors that provide “vibration therapy” to your face and scalp.

I DON’T MEAN TO BE RUDE, BUT THIS ALL SOUNDS LIKE A LOAD OF OLD BOLLOCKS. That is actually quite rude. And let the record show that clinical studies* report “firmer, smoother, healthier-looking skin ... in as little as eight weeks”.

WHY THE ASTERISK? The studies (ahem) comprised only 31 participants, all paid.

VERDICT: It’s expensive and weird (it looks a bit like a Halloween mask, frankly), and it claims to makeyou look younger. In other words, it’s going to be huge.
